The name Mono-crystalline Solar Panels is directly related to the composition of the silicon used to make the solar cells within the solar panel. Most mono-crystalline solar cells are black, and the corners of the cells are usually missing. This is due to the production process and the mono-crystalline silicon used within that process.
‘Mono’ comes from the Greek word ‘monos’ which means one or single. So basically mono-crystalline means ‘one crystal’ or ‘single crystal’.
Whether or not you use a mono-crystalline solar panel or another type of solar panel really depends on what you are trying to achieve, and the conditions and aspects of the building you wish to go off the grid in.
